In Answer To: Relationship between an older and younger guys (Rod)

You have two options. The first is probably the best advice and most reasonable...forget about him. If he doesn't think a relationship like that can work, he is probably right. You can't force someone to give you a chance, there are probably other reasons besides age why he won't date you (whether he says so or not) but take it from me, youth is often capricious and whimsical, and in my opinion, no 18 year old is mature enough for a serious relationship (sometimes I doubt if 28 year olds are!). Your second option is much more romantic in a Jane Austen-y way, although not easy or a guarente. You have the option of pursuing him rigorously. Be unrelenting in your efforts to do nice things for him (i.e. buy him little meaningful gifts) while maintaining distance and giving him his space. If there is any hope for the two of you, he will relaize that your intentions are true and that you really care about him. The important part however is the giving him his space...this is difficult for many men and sometimes ends with never hearing from him again. Like I said, there is no guarante. Good Luck
