I would merely like to point out that I wasn't suggesting that you try and "buy his love" as Jeff paraphrased. There is a difference between romantic courting and flat out buying someone. Small gifts was just one suggestion for a romantic overture. Others can include letters, poems (although please refrain from this unless you are a poet pursuing someone with a poetic appreciation), song detications on radio, freshly picked flowers...etc. Perhaps romance has died a bit in New York, but hopefully not to the point where courting is commensurate with "buying"... Did that sound bitchy?
