Relationship between an older and younger guys

Ok, I have this major problem. I'm like 30ish and there's this guy who's 18. We are both seeking a relationship with someone and I like him VERY much. He says a relationship couldn't work because of the age difference. I'm very young acting and he acts older than 18. We have a lot of common interests and I feel sure it could work and need to know how to convince him it will. What do I do?
