Gay in Scotland (Norman)
Norman...I remember being in your exact same predicament when I was a teen, so I really feel for you. I think you're making a wise decision by evaluating your parents' attitudes and thinking. At your age the last thing you want to do is risk rejection by closed-minded or hyper-religious parents.
I think the internet can be the ideal tool for meeting and talking with others in your predicament. If you're lucky, you might even bump into someone close to where you live. Just be careful, of course, about meeting anyone over the internet (these warnings can never be stated enough!)
I hope the link that Anthony provided helps you find a local social group. Also, consider that there are definitely other gay teens in your school. The atmosphere and environment probably make it as difficult for them to express themselves as for you! But you sound like a smart boy...if you start fine-tuning your perceptive skills (and honing your "gaydar") you might be able to forge some friendships with people who are gay, or at the very least, gay-friendly.
Lots of luck, and please keep us updated!!!
