Is it worth coming up from Texas?

well i have landed some free airfare tickets, and i want to go to NY for a weekend, and was wondering if Kurfew would show a country Texas boy coming alone a good time? or if i should wait til i meet people? and is there a chance of not getting into the club if i go? cause i wouldn't want to waste a whole trip... thanks
