My philosophy when it comes to getting involved with someone who is already dating someone else is quite simple: don't disrupt another couple's relationship and don't wreak havoc in other people's lives.

Just as you wouldn't want someone teasing and coming onto the person that you love (whether now or in the future) you should accord the same respect to anyone who tells you that they have a boyfriend.

You've made the mistake, now let things lie. If at a later time he breaks up with his boyfriend, or otherwise wants to initiate a relationship with you, you can revisit the idea. But I'd strongly suggest trying to pursue anything else while this person is still dating another. And nore would I suggest encouraging his breakup with his boyfriend. After all, there are other single fish in the sea!
