Friend or lover?

I have this problem that has been bugging me for a long time. I have a gay male friend that I meet when I was 10 and he was 13. Now I am 14 and he is 17. We became really good friends 2 summers ago. We couldn't be separated. We both told each other that we were gay at the same time. We have so much in common it is unreal. We both like the same of everything. How we like our pizza, what kind of music we listen to, and much much more. Recently he has been depressed and withdrawln from me. He is worring me. At this same time he is throughing me sginals of like more then friends. I think I have fallen for him. One day last summer we were play boxing and he gently like brushed me and my stoamch dropped. I wrote a letter to him confessing all of it but his dad lost the letter and he never read it. I haven't talked to him or seen him since Christmas. Should I tell him everything, how do I know if he likes me the same why? I dont want to fell like a fool. HELP it is driving me crazy!
