Sometimes I hate thinking of "subjects"

There is nothing wrong with someone making a conscious effort to be more fit regardless of whether they are fat or not. I don't think that this is necessarily indicative of a health problem. However, if he is beginning to develop some sort of eating disorder, you probably should adress it. Voice your concerns in a non-accusing way and ask him if he is working out and eating differently for heath reasons or for vanity reasons. If it is purely for vanity, make sure he isn't taking "unhealthy short cuts". It's also good to point out that you don't have a problem with the way he looks although it's rather presumptuous to reiderate it so many times. If he does have a problem all you can do is be there for him or perhaps suggest that he gets professional help.
