You and you alone should make the decision to come out to your parents, regardless of what country you live in.

Yes, Denmark has a reputation for much greater tolerance. But cultural tolerance is still locked in a battle with religious tolerance, which is why I feel most sadly for the gay children of highly religious parents. If your friend is truly a friend, he will understand and appreciate that everyone's parents aren't the same. For him to "cut you off," because you haven't come out to your parents is about as senseless as your parents cutting you off for being gay.

So...come out to your parents only when you're good and ready. Or not at all. It's your choice, based on how important that is to you. If you're living with your parents, and depend on them for food and shelter, I always suggest that gay people in such situations postpone declaring their sexuality unless they are certain that their parents will be accepting.
