Can you change your sexuality?

I came out to my dad about 6 months ago and have been having huge problems with him everytime he brings up my sexuality.

My dad and I have different viewpoints on a persons sexuality. He says that it is a choice and I say it isn't. My dad is also a religious person and acording to him homosexuality is a huge sin in his eyes. He also knows that being gay in the U.S is extremely tough, and he wants to protect me and make my life easier.

My dad knows of a few psychiatrists who can "cure you" change you from gay to str8 and that they have been very succesful.

I told him that you can't change your sexual preference, and that just because you get married to a woman what stops you from having anal sex anyway? He didn't have an answer for that one.

I got very upset when he asked me if I would see a therapist to "help me". I got extremely depressed and ended up on the phone almost crying to my BF the entire night.

Basically my question is who is right, me or my dad? I just think that he is very wrong and any proof that people have about changing ones sexuality isn't accurate.

I'm trying to move out, and start a life for myself and my BF. Which is tough since I'm not getting any support at home. In fact most family members are trying to get me to stop hanging out with my gay friends, make str8 friends and date women. I've gone to a support group, but it didn't help. It only made things worse when my dad found out where I was.

Any advice?
