Dealing with a guy like you describe is always going to be a challenge. He's obviously conflicted over his sexual feelings versus his desire to appear to be this heterosexual "chick magnet." I suspect it's not just re-establishing friendship that you're after, but certainly proposing a renewed friendship might be the best path to restoring whatever damage was done by the argument. Unless the argument itself was about your relationship and/or confronting his sexuality, which may be very hard to overcome should he be trying to separate himself from his "gay experience."

But try re-establishing communication with him in a very friendly way. Tell him you value his friensdhip (if you mean it!) and that you'd like to put whatever happened in the past, in the past!
