New to the gay-thing

Hey, I'm 22 y.o. and I have just come out to my best friend (I've had a long trip, but fortunately I made it!:)). Anyway, I am kinda concerned with me coming out so late. I mean it was a complete shock to my friend.

I am not sure if I should come out to everyone else I know (people at work, school, etc). I mean they have no idea, and always treat me as if I were straight. On one hand i kinda like that, beccause i think my identity is personal (except for people i trust), on the other hand i am tired of hiding. But i don't wanna just go and yell out i am gay to everyone. Not everyone will understand:) What should i do then?

Another problem i have is that i am shy. So i don't know how to start conversations with guys i like. Of course i am new to all of this, but does being gay necessarily mean acting in a different way then straight? I mean if i want to meet guys (other than in gay clubs) what do i have to do to let them know that i am gay?
