We've seen many cases at Kurfew where a so-called "straight" male flirts a lot with the other guys, or makes sexual comments or excessive touching. In MOST of the cases, the guy turns out to be bisexual or gay. However, I wouldn't say ALL of the cases, because in a non-homophobic world (indeed, in many other countries of the world) such behavior from straight males would be perfectly normal and acceptable.

In this culture, the intense pressure to repress gay sexuality and feelings leads to people labeling themselves as "straight" even when they are gay or bi. Your friends comments sound to me like desperate hints that he's dropping of his interest in you. In any event, even if he's straight, the boy certainly couldn't hold it against you for interpreting his comments as those of interest!

Assuming he's bisexual or straight, but not yet ready to face the fact, my advice to you would be to forge a friendship with him (if you indeed like him enough). Let him get to know and trust you. If the friendship works out (and he'll let it happen if he truly likes you) then you'll probably need to begin throw subtle and then more direct hints of your interest in him. Over time, if he's gay, he'll hopefully get more comfortable when himself and his own sexuality, and hopefully something good will come out of it for both of you!!!
