Ask Jeff & Anthony

You need to take a small chance....

In Answer To: How do I let guys know that I'm bi??? (Austin)

When I was younger (hehe...no age jokes Anthony!!!) I used to be terribly afraid that people would figure out that I was gay.

Now, even though I'm openly gay, I'm still amazed at how often people ask me, or assume, that I'm straight. Even at Kurfew!!!

The lesson here: unless you fit all the stereotypes that heterosexuals typically have of gay men (which sounds unlikely, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to hide so carefully up until now!) people will give you the benefit of the doubt that you're straight. Even if you flirt a bit with a guy you're interested in, or brush against his leg, or sit "too close" to him, etc. etc.

You've GOT to take some type of chance if you want to pursue somebody. The person might be straight, might be in a relationship, or just might not be interested. But "nothing ventured is nothing gained." So psyche yourself up to take a little bit of a chance. Venture out there a bit and subtly flirt with a guy you're interested in. Just remember, there are thousands of other guys just like you out there...they're all afraid to make the first move, but SOMEONE'S got to do it!!!

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

JEFF
