How do I know?

I really like this guy and I have no clue if he likes me or if hes even gay bi or straight I am so infatuated with him I love him and I want him to know that but I am afraid that if I tell him that he will be another one of those homohaters and shy away from me and thats the last thing that I would ever want in the whole world what signs can I look for in him to tell me he is or if he isn't and what signs can I show him to let him know where I stand and how I feel?
