Can't get along with the gay youth group

OK...I have known for a long time that I liked guys. I like girls too, but not nearly as much. Anyway, I go to this gay youth group in my small town. There are probably 10 or 15 people there every week. I don't consider myself to be a shy person, but I do when I go there! I try to make conversation with people, but they act like they're talking back to a small retarded ferret. I try to joke around with people, but they don't understand my sense of humor. I'm confident about my appearances, I don't think it's that. And I don't feel that I am annoying. All they do at this youth group is talk about their sex lives, which is fine with me, because it's a support group. I've just gotten a bad view of gay people...I do not fit the stereotypes. My question is, does the reason I can't find anyone that I particularly connect with lie with them or me?
