Is this what a boyfriend is supposed to be??????

hey...ok...i'm roughly new to the whole gay thing...yes, i'm 21...but i took my time venturing out of that proverbial closet...i met a guy named dante and we hit it off right away...hung out a couple of times and then on valentines day, he gave me the sweetest card, asking me if i would spend it with him as his boyfreind...my heart just about melted...but since then...it doesnt seem as if he's at all interested. he tells a mutual freind that he really needs his "space" the only problem is that "space" to him apparently translates to "i treat you like gold on f riday and saturday morning but as for the rest of the week, i cant be bothered with even a simple hello" color me stupid but i'm not thinking this is the way a relationship is supposed to be is it? i mean...i'm not afraid to say it...i like a lot of attention, and i'm not saying that he doesnt deserve his space but...shouldnt we both be giving and taking (he gives a little and i give a little, etc...) ohh any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks...
