I feel like there is something that you're not telling us. How did the argument involve you? Did you cheat on your girlfriend with your ex? Were you planning on it? If they are unwilling to get into contact with you, then you must have done something pretty #####ty to both of them. The position that you are in #####s, but there is really nothing you can do if they want nothing to do with you. Have you tried writing a letter to each of them appologizing for anything you might have done and explaining how important each of them is in your life? If they won't respond to something like that than you just have to face the facts!
PS If you are trying to be friends with both of them, I think it is ok to contact both of them, but if the argument involved cheating or jealousy and you are interested in getting one of them back romantically, then it might be a good idea to stay away from the other one right now.
