Wow, that was a very confusing and dramatic narrative. I don't know exactly what you are looking for in terms of advice, but there are a few comments I can make. First and foremost, you were/are wrong. You showed poor judgement in your actions. I am unsure how you can claim that Gary is such a good friend when you fooled around with his partner, and I don't blame him for being angry with you. Obviously you and Dave are over now and you consider him a liar, etc. So you've made your bed and now you are going to have to sleep in it. NEVER GET IN THE MIDDLE OF TWO PEOPLE EVER AGAIN. It is never worth it, although it might seem romantic in a Henry Miller/Anais Nin sort of way, I assure you it is petty and immature. In the future, Dave and Gary's relationship is none of your business, they have been together for 17 years,they have their own rules and terms that aren't really your business. I doubt that Gary is completely oblivious to Dave's cheating. People see what they want to see sometimes. Gary may forgive you with time, but honestly, If I were him, I'd probably never want to see you again.
