Ask Jeff & Anthony

He needs to feel the same way...

In Answer To: I want more than a friend (skibum)

Often, when one is attracted to someone else, he often falls under the impression that the object of his affection feels the same way he does. Both straight and gay people go through this same dilemma. In your case, your friend has made it quite clear that he is not interested in pursuing a deeper relationship at this time. You can second-guess him all you want, convince yourself that such a relationship is in your and his best interests, or dispute the reasons that he doesn't want to get involved, but the bottom line is if he doesn't truly feel the same, no practical relationship can come out of it.

My advice: Cherish the good friendship that you have. If your friend indicates that he is interested in a relationship down the road, that would be a good time to pursue something. Otherwise, don't hold your breath waiting for him to come around. Go out and meet new people, explore, keep your mind open to potential relationships elsehwere...and lots of luck!
