In Answer To: SEX WITH HERPES (MARKED)

I've culled some information for you from the web. Read through it, Rather than considering yourself "Marked," as you signed your posting, consider yourself responsible, and let you partner know, while also educating her about how to minimize the possibility of contracting herpes.

Here's info from the Pleiades Network (An Internet Resource for Women):

"You can use a dental dam or saran wrap during oral sex. Simply drape it over the genital area, and apply mouth and tongue stimulation through the cover...however, although this greatly reduces any risk...it does not eliminate it.

On the other hand...let's face it...we are going to be sexual...because it is a wonderful thang...:-)...;-) So...if your intimate other
has genital herpes...do not be sexually active while she has active lesions...and the other times...use a dental dam...and latex
gloves for digital stimulation...If that is too overwhelming...just make sure that you do not have any cuts or abrasions on any part
of your body that comes in contact with her genital secretions...Also...it's best to avoid sex during her menstrual cycle, as there is some evidence that transmission is increased if asymptomatic cervical herpes is present during menstruation...probably because the virus is washed down into the vaginal canal with the flow...

As to oral herpes...you can transmit it as well, via oral sex...there is strong evidence that although HSV I selectively prefers the
oral mucosa for replication...it can be transmitted via oral to genital sex...and has been cultured from genital tissue...so if you
have a cold sore...even though it could be a transient viral stomatitis from another virus...and not herpes...it's a good idea to
refrain from kissing the object of your desire...until it resolves... "

Here's some more general information from another resource:

Oral sex is one of the most common ways to spread herpes. Many people have the misunderstanding that genital herpes can only be contracted during intercourse. Unfortunately, during oral sex, herpes sores on the inside or outside of your mouth can infect your partner. Although most people who have herpes in the genital region
carry the Herpes II virus, one can also carry Herpes I in the genital regions.

Once again, Herpes can only be spread through the bodily fluids. This includes the mouth, vagina, penis, anus and any random herpes blister on the body. If the mouth, vagina, penis, anus or random herpes blisters come in contact in any combination with each other, the possibility of spreading an active state of herpes is very likely.

People with early signs of a herpes outbreak or with visible sores should not have sexual intercourse until the sores have healed completely. Between outbreaks, using condoms during sexual intercourse may offer partial protection. Use of chronic suppressive acyclovir therapy offers promise for reducing transmission.
