Is it risky ???? (GMT-Master II)
You have to "feel out" your parent's opinions on this matter before making the decision to come out when you're dependent upon them.
If your parents are deeply religious, or have expressed strong views against homosexuality in the past, it might be best for you to remain quiet about your sexuality until you get the chance to get out of your house. This is unfortunate, but as long as certain religious groups continue to push the "homosexuality is evil" message, there will always be some parents who believe they are acting under the "will of god" when they mistreat or reject their gay children. Just recently, 2 gay parents in Long Island were charged in the beating of their gay son!!!!!!
If you get the feeling that your parents would not kick you out, or might be somewhat open-minded or accepting about you, then I would suggest you go for it. But's it's not a simple "Do it or Not" decision...You need to take a careful, measured approach.
Good luck!
