How do I know if I'm gay???

my last girl friend died about 4 months ago, she was my best friend along with my girl friend..while she was alive i noticed that guys were sorta attractive to me but i just put it off thinking i just thought they were in shape, but recently i met a guy named derek and i really think im in love or somthin with him. All i do is think about him and how much he means to me.. Question how do i tell if im gay? Iknow it just dosnt pop up and hit me but im a little confused, it would be awsome if this is anwered...thanks a bunch
