In Answer To: How do I pursue this boy now??? (nervous wreck)

It's very common to read about someone in this column and believe that it is someone you are familiar with, but that's mostly because the stories and behaviors among young gay people struggling to come out are so common. It's also your mind wanting to believe that this is the person you are interested in. In any event, we couldn't nor wouldn't betray the confidentiality of someone who has written in to us, so we hope you understand that we can't "connect" you with another contributor.

As for your current situation, we need to know not only if the boy is or isn't gay but also if he's interested in you or not. And even if he's gay, as you noted, he might just not be ready to acknowledge it (such are the difficulties of being a gay teenager!). The best solution would be to draft up an honest direct letter and hand it to him when you next see him. Leave an email and phone number for him to contact you. Then it's all in his hands about taking the next step of not.
