Thank you for sharing how you're feeling. It’s completely normal to question your sexuality and develop feelings for someone close to you, but it sounds like you’re really unsure about how your friend might react or whether there are mutual feelings involved. The fact that you're asking this question suggests that you’re uncertain, and that’s perfectly okay. It might be a good idea to give yourself a bit more time to reflect before making any moves that could potentially affect your friendship.

Friendships can be incredibly important to your health and well-being, sometimes even more so than a fleeting relationship. If this friendship is something that brings you comfort and joy, it’s worth considering whether maintaining that connection as it is might be the best path for now. It’s also possible that with time, things may become clearer for both of you.

If you think your friend might not react well, or you're not sure how he would respond, you could take a more gradual approach. Try bringing up topics like LGBT rights or related issues in the news to gauge his general views and reactions. This could give you some insight without immediately sharing your personal feelings.

If you do decide to tell him, be mindful of how you approach the conversation. Emphasize how much you value the friendship and that no matter what, you don’t want things to change between you. Give him the space to process and respond in his own time.

Ultimately, there’s no rush. Take the time you need to reflect on your feelings, and remember that whatever happens, you're already being brave by confronting these emotions.

Wishing you the best.
