In Answer To: Coming out to difficult parents . (denatriz)

There's no rule that says everybody must come out to their parents. Since we can't choose our parents, and many are stuck with closed-minded parents or very religious parents who won't deal well with the concept of having a child who is gay.

Dropping hints is the best way to gauge reaction from your parents. Clearly, the reaction has been negative, although you don't state that it's hostile. Since you don't seem terribly afraid that they figure things out "on their own," I'd continue to engage them in discussions on gay rights and gay issues. Let them know how you feel on this issue. There will come a point when you'll feel it's appropriate to come out to them...or you might decide it's just not worth it.

In either case, find some supportive friends, friends online, or a gay group, at which you CAN "come out" and talk about your true feelings. Even a single friend aware of your sexuality can help go an enormous way towards improving the way you feel and helping you fully accept yourself. When you've accepted yourself, you'll find it much easier to find a boyfriend. Be prepared for a long road, and if things happen more quickly, you'll be that much more appreciative.
