In Answer To: Im not sure how to come out (Nathan)

We've provided plenty of advice to others on thsi topic, so do a bit of browsing and get full information.

Basically, since you're dependent upon your parents at age 14, and you know you're parents will not react positively, your situation is one in which it sounds like it would be better for you to avoid disclosing your sexuality to your parents. It's unfortunate, but it's an example of "losing the battle, but winning the war." You don't want to get yourself kicked out of your house, or have your home life made so miserable that you regret ever coming out.

Instead, I would advise you to tell a few trusted friends, and maybe tell a few online friends. The more you're able to talk openly about your feelings, the better you'll feel. You might even decide to drop a few minor hints to your parents (such as discussing a gay topic in the news) to begin to gauge their reaction...but be careful here!!!

I remember being in your situation at your age, and with each passing year, things will become easier for you. I waited until 2 years into college before telling my parents...and my parents actually reacted much better than I had expected. Read through some other answers we've given to similar questions, and write us back to let us know how it goes!!!

Good luck!!!
