Ask Jeff & Anthony

Cherish this friendship!!!

In Answer To: In love with My Best Friend (Greg)

He's already told you that he isn't gay. Even if that was two years ago, you can bet that he remembers that he told you that, and he also remembers that you told him you were "thinking about being gay" (whatever the hell that means, hehe).

My advice to you: be open with him about your sexuality without pressuring him to declare his own sexuality to you. I don't mean to tell him that you're "in love with him," as that might scare him away regardless of his sexual orientation. Rather, you might conciously mention gay-related news items, or maybe even tell him that you wanted him to know that you are indeed gay. If he is indeed gay and interested in you, this will come out in time. But if he's straight, or not interested, don't become devastated. Instead, you should cherish your long-term friendship and don't do anything to jeopardize it! I hate to say this, but in the young gay community, a good friendship is often worth far more than a fleeting relationship...and can often be better for one's emotional health! Keep that in mind while you keep an open mind! Good luck and let me know how it goes!
