How can I help my lesbian friend?

Hey...i may not be a lesbian or even a bisexual, but my best friend and cousin is. I have shared her pain and heartbreak through her stories, tears and violent times. her mother wants nothing to do with her and her father left when she was 7. when she first came out she was very upset and confused. she said that she wanted to be "normal" when i told her that she was normal...in her own way. that normal doesn't mean being a certain sexuality, race or other wise...that being normal was just a stereotype that people used to comfort themselves she still comes to me with her problems of being made fun of (she goes to a Catholic school), and when people discriminate her. they paint derogatory things on her locker, call her names and sometimes beat her up. I try to comfort her as best as I can, and it works until someone hurts her again. Please give my story some thought.
