There's really no need for an "instruction manual" or any great amount of detail. What matters is that you become comfortable enough with each other to do what pleases each of you.
The trick to making something happen is to set some expectations for something more than just kissing. For example, maybe you can invite your girl over for a "romantic dinner." Dim the lights, light some candles. Put some extra time and effort into making your place look great. If you drink, share a couple of glasses of wine...
As in any relationship, SOMEONE needs to take the initiative, so just remind yourself to take a "what the hell" attitude for the night, and see where that takes you! If it doesn't work the first time, try it again!
