Ask Joey
There is hope!

Dear Tom,
It makes me very upset when I read stories just like yours. I too told my family, but they don't believe me. It has been a while since I have told them and I think they forgot so I am just leaving it there for now. But with you its different. They now know you are gay and it was probably a big shock as you said. I think everyday they are dealing with it and think about it. I think you just have to sit down with them and talk. I have wrote about this many times and I'm sure advice is in a bunch of other responces of mine. You just have to get them to realize that you still are the same person and there is something wrong with them if they cannot accept you because they love you and you love them. I think serious conversation can correct this. Tell them you are open for questions if it will make them feel better. It is a learning experience for both of you and I hope things straighten out.
Dave
