I'm 14, how do I meet gay teens in a new town?

Dear Ryan,
One of the biggest problems that I find of being gay is finding other young gay people in my area.
You will be lucky if there are more than one person in a school who is openly gay (Editor's
note: A recent Time Magazine survey revealed that 17% of teens consider themselves gay or bisexual!!!). This is something that every gay teen has to deal with. As you get older you will
interact with more gay people, and you'll discover more gay people in your school So for right now my suggestion to you is patience and a positive attitude. Focus on meeting friends, and not necessarily on their sexual orientation. Don't worry, you're not alone in this long waiting line. Also, remember that lots of young gay people have been able to meet others online, although you need to be very cautious, really get to know someone, and never meet anybody from online by yourself, always bring a friend. But having online friends who are gay is also a big help, even if they're rom other towns. Until then good luck and stay strong in school.
