Abuse and violence do not belong in any loving relationship whether straight OR gay. You may say you love him, and he may say he loves you, but allowing yourself to endure such abuse will only encourage your boyfriend to lose more respect in you, and perhaps abuse you even more, while your relationship deteriorates.

Let him know in no uncertain terms that you won't put up with such abuse. Give him a deadline. If he REALLY does love you, he'll clean up his act. If not, as emotionally painful as it is, you need to get away from this person until he's genuinely ready to clean up his act. It's a hard step, I know. But sometime you need to be tough to be able to be tender. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
