Help me do something....

I am a 23 year old. I have had a friend who I have known since grade school but we became good friends in high school. We were roommates our first year at College. We both had some serious incedents in our lives around the same time so the situation was very unstable. Never the less we made it through the hard times and now we are friends again. Anyways, I am very attracted to him and I don't know what to do. It's more than just a crush. He's all I think about lately. I feel something for him that is more than just lust. I have never really felt that way about anyone. He has had various girlfriends, but his relationships are always a little off, although he seems to be having sex with them. He has made comments about being attracted to other guys (actors, muscians, etc.), but then again he is the type of person who you can never telling if he his telling the truth or just joking around. He has also done other things that leads me to believe (and other people) that he might be gay. On the other hand, he just started going with this girl who I have known for years. At the same time, he doesn't know I am gay. My life is pretty miserable at the moment and he could make it a hell of a lot better. I just don't want to make a fool out of myself and possibly disrupt the future of our friendship. What should I do? I wake up and fall asleep thinking about this dilemma. If something doesn't happen soon, it's gonna eat me alive.
