Not a dumb question!!

Your question is not dumb...just because you're unsure about your sexuality doesn't mean that you are not mature for your age. Now, while your question is not dumb, it is somewhat common. I hate telling people that because I hate to hear stuff like that myself. How dreadful to be common! At any rate though, a lot of guys, while discovering parts about their sexual identity, experience guilt for having feelings for the same sex. I believe that this is because society makes you think that str8 is correct and everything else is aberrant. Almost every gay guy I know has gone through a period of guilt and even self hatred because of their feelings. Also, for 16 years, you have believed that you would grow up, marry a woman, have a family and be just like your parents (well maybe not exactly) and you've also believed every other vision of heterosexuality that society and the media presents you with. It is difficult to part with these notions if you are indeed gay. There is a saying "man makes plans and god laughs"...get my drift? Sometimes life doesn't turn out exactly how we plan, you have to adjust. Anyway, if you are gay, it doesn't mean that you can't have a family esp in this day and age. As time goes by and you begin to be better aquainted with your sexaul feelings and gain experience, things will become clearer. It is ok to be confused, but it is never ok to feel guilty for being yourself. Hope this has helped. Good Luck.
