sometimes when your parents seem like they would do such drastic things, it's better to wait when your not so dependent on them to say something. That is if you feel they will not worm up or come around to you being gay. Getting to the guy, you need to ask him. Do it in private if you think he will not tell everyone if you think you can't do this then move on. Don't hurt yourself by helping him out. That can only lead to emotional disaster!
