How do I make the move on my friend? (Michael)
Dear Michael,
Remember, it's not always possible to tell if someone is gay because sometimes how they act is totally different from their sexuality. To see if someone is gay I usually start conversations. I dont come right out and ask if they are gay but I do use questions around that area such as if they have a girlfriend and maybe a question with the word "gay" in it. I look at their response and reactions to the questions and judge from there if they are gay-friendly, gay, straight, or not into gays at all. Conversation is the only secure and reliable way to find out if someone is gay. But even through talking people can lie. This is something that can be very annoying for gay guys looking for other gay guys, but its not that bad. So you should try the talking thing and maybe touch some gay topics and see how he responds. I wouldn't make any strong "moves" if you think there's a good chance he's straight, but subtle conversation, combined with maybe some suggestive closeness (such as sitting too close, or brushing your leg against his while sitting next to him) might confirm enough to help you reach your own conclusion.
